A vision to improve the level of tourism performance in North Sinai Governorate (Field study during 2014: 2023)

Tourism development is considered one of the main perspectives to develop any society due to its economic, social, and environmental importance, etc….As Egypt is one of the most important destinations for tourists, including various marvelous areas such as Sinai Peninsula, it generally seeks to achieve certain objectives such as improving the performance of targeted tourist spots. North-sinai governorate offers a unique model for tourism development, boasting a unique geographical location, unique climate, religious monuments, and attractive tourist attractions. However, North Sinai governorate suffers from weak performance in tourism because of underperformed matters concerned with tourism development. This study aims to promote and develop tourism performance to achieve tourism development in North Sinai Governorate. Where some concepts related to tourism were reviewed, and the current situation of the governorate was analyzed, including its potential and obstacles. Also, questionnaire forms were distributed to a sample of people who frequent the governorate, including the following: Evaluate transportation services, access methods, infrastructure, services supporting tourism, etc... Through analyzing the results of the questionnaire, which confirmed the study hypothesis, some alternatives, suggestions, and recommendations were developed that help increase the level of tourism performance in this historical spot, the most important of which is the establishment of commercial markets and handicraft centers in various parts of the governorate, the redevelopment of religious and historical roads, and the development of promotional plans to stimulate tourism in all areas.
